Hiking Tips

1. Eat a big breakfast

  • Load up on complex carbs and protein to properly fuel your outdoor adventure
  • Breakfast burrito is never a bad idea!  Ingredients from bottom to top: Whole wheat tortilla, egg white omelet with cheese, roasted potatoes, beans, corn, serrano pepper, cherry tomatoes, green onions, and cilantro

2. Pack simple snacks 

  • Apples (squeeze 1/4 lemon for every apple to prevent browning)
  • Power Bar – Performance Energy Blend
  • Orange & banana
  • Homemade trail mix: pecans, almonds, sunflower seeds, and cranberries
  • 3 ingredient waffle

3. Bring plenty of water

  • Backpack with a hydration pack is the way to go
  • Bring at least 1 liter of water (obviously depends on the distance & weather, but too much water is never a bad thing)

5. Bring a buddy

  • You will feel safer and have someone to enjoy the hike with!
