Moving more and eating better has changed my life completely, I am stronger, healthier, and happier. All I have ever wanted to do was share my passion, which was how Fit Andy started.
Some of you may not know this, but I have a Bachelors in Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College. Marketing was always something that interested me, I loved the creativity of it and working with people. My business background helped me build my social media platforms, eventually create a blog, and brand myself.
Let’s talk social media for a second. This form of marketing is my favorite way to connect with others. It’s the fastest and easiest way to build relationships and inspire others. My best advice for other’s is not to get wrapped up in the number of followers or likes, focus on the quality of photos, staying true to yourself/brand, and not taking it so seriously – have fun! At times I get caught up in the numbers, but I remind myself quality over quantity is what matters most.
Once I got the hang of social media, I realized I had more to say about fitness and nutrition than what was allowed on a photo caption. I wanted to expand on more things and share more photos, so I started a blog. With the help of my friend Ashleigh, FitAndy.com was born!!! This is by far the most exciting thing ever, I felt so legit to have a dot com. I never considered myself a writer or techy for that matter, so learning about hiring a web hosting company and understanding how to use WordPress was challenging and at times overwhelming. I have come a long way since I started my blog back in June 2014. I am happy to say that I absolutely love the direction it is going, I get to share my love for fitness and nutrition – it doesn’t get any better than that!
The most important step to branding yourself is a logo. A logo is a piece of you, your story and values all captured in a creative image.
I have always wanted a logo, but I never knew how to go about it. Luckily, I had met a graphic designer at a Nike photoshoot. Mark is runner, passionate artist, and extremely creative person. And when I realized that I needed to take the next step in branding myself, he was the first to come to mind.
I had no clue how I wanted my logo to look, but I knew I wanted it to represent health and have a piece of me in it. After a few weeks, Mark revealed the Fit Andy logo to me. But first, he showed me his entire process and how he ended up with this vibrant pineapple logo.
I was on the edge of my seat while he was going through all of his sketches, I was nervous, excited, and the anticipation was building. He tried logos with spoons, forks, dumbbells, and other fruits; but the pineapple wouldn’t get out of his head. He fully immersed himself into this project, and even purchased a pineapple and studied the details of it.
There are so many amazing things about this logo, the star in the I of Fit is actually the scales of a pineapple. If that isn’t enough creativity to blow your mind, this entire logo was hand drawn by Mark!! The detail, color, and overall feel of this Fit Andy logo makes me realize that this is just the beginning of something truly amazing. Hiring Mark was the best decision I have made thus far and was well worth the investment. This logo will set me apart from the rest, it’s truly a game changer.
